Jesus Unique Authority
Sunday, 20 November 2011
Speaker Name:
Pastor Bryan Sims
Description:
The recurring claim of Mark's Gospel is the unique authority of Jesus. In our passage, we have described a vivid account of Jesus' authority to heal. Jesus heals a leper which was basically incurable. Also, Jesus an authority forgives a man of his sins, exercised only by God. His actions draw opposition from the religious leaders, the beginning of their hostility.
One Day With Jesus
Sunday, 13 November 2011
Speaker Name:
Pastor Bryan Sims
Description:
What was it like to be with Jesus on a daily basis? In some ways, it is hard to know since the gospel accounts are a condensed three years of ministry. However, in our passage today, we have a clearly marked day. While this day may not be an average day, it shows us the essential elements of Jesus' ministry:teaching, casting out demons, and healing.

Sunday, 23 October 2011
Speaker Name:
Pastor Bryan Sims
Description:
As Jesus launches into his ministry, we are given a summary of his teaching. Given that Jesus is utterly unique and his impact will be unprecedented, we should want to know the essence of his teaching, right? The essence of his teaching is the Kingdom of God. But what is the Kingdom of God? We also find out how to enter the Kingdom of God.
The Baptism and Tempation of Jesus
Sunday, 16 October 2011
Speaker Name:
Pastor Bryan Sims
Description:
As we finish the prologue to the Gospel of Mark (v-1-13), we discuss two very important events: The baptism and temptation of Jesus. Why are these events so important? They show that Jesus truly is the Christ, the Son of God-just as Mark began his gospel. As the story of Jesus will begin to unfold and people debate his identity, we are given this special insight. Jesus is the long, awaited Christ and the Son of God as well as being a person from the obscure town of Nazareth. What a remarkable thought!
John the Baptist
Sunday, 09 October 2011
Speaker Name:
Pastor Bryan Sims
Description:
Interestingly as Mark begins his account of the gospel of Jesus Christ, he first focuses on John the Baptist. In fact, all four gospels discuss John's ministry before Jesus' ministry. Obviously, John is very important. Today we explore why John is so significant and how this adds to our understanding of Christ.
The Gospel of Mark Introduction
Sunday, 02 October 2011
Speaker Name:
Pastor Bryan Sims
Description:
The Gospel of Mark has been seen sometimes as the black sheep among the four Gospels. However, this is mistaken. Mark is very important as it is theologically rich and personally edifying. Today we explore the background to this gospel- Who was Mark? When and why did he write his gospel?
Christian View Of Homosexuality Conclusion
Sunday, 25 September 2011
Speaker Name:
Pastor Bryan Sims
Description:

Christian View of Homosexuality Part Three
Sunday, 18 September 2011
Speaker Name:
Pastor Bryan Sims | 1 Timothy 1:8-11, 1 Cor. 6:9-10
Description:
Of all the texts that deal with homosexuality, the opening chapter of Romans is probally the most important. We read that the root of all sin is odolatry-we exchange the knowledge of God revealed through creation because of our sin nature. Instead we worship something else. As a result, God gives us over to sin, and homosexuality is specifically pointed at because it illustrates humanity's rebellion against God's design of heterosexual marriage. Two other NT passages show the OT prohibitions still apply and that homosexuals can change!
Christian View of Homosexuality part two
Sunday, 11 September 2011
Speaker Name:
Pastor Bryan Sims | Gen. 13:12-13, Gen 18:20-21
Description:
There is a growing push to claim that the Bible is either ambivalent toward homosexuality or actually condones it. So what does the scripture actully teach? Today we explore several important Old Testament passages as well as the relationship between David and Jonathan. Finally, we examine Jesus' silence on the subject and what that means.
