The Lords Supper
Sunday, 19 June 2011
Speaker Name:
Pastor Bryan Sims
Description:
The Lord's Supper is one of two rites that Jesus instituted for his church to follow along with baptism. However, do we understand the rich significance of the Lord's Supper? Today we explore how this ceremony powerfully depicts the gospel. Also we look at various views of the Lord's Supper in regard to the presence of Christ in the bread and cup. Finally, we look at some practical questions, particularly preparing ourself to partake of the Lord's Supper.
Evangelism Part Two
Sunday, 12 June 2011
Speaker Name:
Pastor Bryan Sims
Description:
God has a desire to see all the nations know and worship him. Jesus gave his disciples a commission to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. How are we doing in this great task? We look at our status as a whole, both the very encouraging progress as well as the remaining work. Also, we look at some practical ways to grow in our personal evangelism.
Ministries of the Church:Evangelism
Sunday, 05 June 2011
Speaker Name:
Pastor Bryan Sims
Description:
Before discussing our evangelism, it is very helpful to undestand God's heart for the nations. It has been Gods plan since the beginning to gather people from all peoples to worship him. While the goal has remained constant, the strategy has changed from the Mosaic Covenant to the New Covenant, from "come and see" to 'go and tell".
5-29-11 Service
Sunday, 29 May 2011
Speaker Name:
Pastor Bryan Sims
Description:
One of the great legacies of the Protestant Reformation was its rediscovery of the doctrine of the priesthood of believrs. The New Testament amazingly proclaims that all Christians serve and minister to God. However, this truth has yet to be realized as many believers fail to serve faithfully. We explore how and why to grow in our service to God and each other.
Ministries of Church Worship
Sunday, 22 May 2011
Speaker Name:
Pastor Bryan Sims
Description:
Worship means that we give God the glory honor he deserves. On one hand, we are to practice lifestyle worship where every area of life is an act of devotion to God. Worship should also occur more specifically as believers gather together. Two essential elements of corporate worship are prayer and singing.
Technology and God
Sunday, 15 May 2011
Speaker Name:
Jon Espeland
Description:
We live in a digital age. Technology grows and develops at lightening speed and so today we are very much driven by time. Let's remember that God wants a relationship with us and he wants us to have a relationship with others. Build on your relationships in person whenever possible. Technological presence is a second tier alternative that needs to be used with discretion and self-disciple.
Ministries Fellowship
Sunday, 08 May 2011
Speaker Name:
Pastor Bryan Sims
Description:
Fellowship is a vital ministry of the church. Fellowship is the mutual edifying relations in the church, its community life. Fellowship begins with our relationship wiht God. The Triune God is a fellowship of three persons who has made us in his image as a social creature. We are made for community! According to scripture, fellowship is also a partnership in the gospel, as we explore.
Is Jesus God
Sunday, 01 May 2011
Speaker Name:
Pastor Bryan Sims | John 8:53
Description:
Without question, one of the most important questions is the divinity of Jesus. If he truly is God, this fact changes everything. For his part, Jesus certainly claims to be God (we look at five such claims). He also backs up his claims by his actions-miracles, sinless behavior, resurrection, and receptions of worship. As CS Lewis once declared, Jesus is either a liar, lunatic, or Lord. What is he to you?
The Resurrection of Jesus
Sunday, 24 April 2011
Speaker Name:
Pastor Bryan Sims | Matthew 27:57- 28:15
Description:
Death is a certainty of human existence. Since no one returns from the dead, it casts a dark shadow on what lies beyoond the grave. Jesus changed all of that on Easter morning when he rose from the dead. Now, there is a solid hope for humanity. Today, we look at that glorias event!
God's Ministries for the Church Part Two
Sunday, 17 April 2011
Speaker Name:
Pastor Bryan Sims
Description:
Scripture is essential to making disciples. Therefore teaching must be central in the life of the church. For one thing, pastoral teaching helps to protect from false doctrine and spiritual growth. Following the pattern of Jesus and the apostles, pastors need to invest themselves in teaching scripture. Also, mutual teaching takes place as each believer is expected to teach in come capacity (Col3:16). We should not learn just to learn but to share with others. Finally, parental teaching helps establish our children in scripture (Deut 6:6-7)
