High Priest Part 2
Sunday, 14 December 2008
Speaker Name:
Pastor Bryan Sims | Hebrews 4:15, Hebrews 7:25-27, Hebrews 7:16, Hebrews 10:1-4, Hebrews 2:17, Romans 3:24-25
Description:
Jesus as our High Priest is one of his least understood roles. This is unfortunate because it is both theologically rich and practically significant. Jesus' priesthood is superior to the priesthood of Aaron because of its purtiy, permanence, and propitiatory power. Presently, as our High Priest, Jesus is blessing and interceding for all believers. We briefly looked at scripture's teaching about the priesthood of believers.
High Priest
Sunday, 07 December 2008
Speaker Name:
Pastor Bryan Sims | Psalm 110:3-4, Exodus 19:5-6, Exodus 20
Description:
God designed the priesthood to be an essential part of the Old Covenent. They served an invaluable role as mediators and representatives between God and his people. Interestingly, the Old Testament (Psalm 110:4) speaks of a future priest who will serve forever. In Matt 21, we also looked at Jesus teaching that the Old Testament sacrificial system - temple, priesthood, and sacrifices - will be abolished.

Jesus The Prophet Part 2
Sunday, 23 November 2008
Speaker Name:
Pastor Bryan Sims | Luke 24, John 14:10, John 7:40, Luke 7:16
Description:
Jesus was regarded by his disciples and crowds as a prophet. Interestingly, Jesus would agree with that assessment but never explicitly says so. Why? Also, we explore how Jesus was understood to be both the coming Mosaic Prophet and one greater than that.
Jesus The Prophet Part 1
Sunday, 16 November 2008
Speaker Name:
Pastor Bryan Sims | Deut. 18:15-19, Isaiah 49:1-2, Isaiah 61:1-2
Description:
Today we explore the Old Testament teaching concerning Jesus as a Prophet. In our study, we examine the defining characteristics of Old Testament prophets. Also, we look at the greatest Old Testament prophet - Moses- and how a future prophet is predicted who is like Moses.
Christ in the Old Testament
Sunday, 09 November 2008
Speaker Name:
Pastor Bryan Sims | John 5:39, Luke 24:25-27, Luke 29:46-47, Matt. 5:17, 1 John 3:8
Description:
The Bible records God's plan of redemption for humanity. At the very center of this plan stands a deliverer-Jesus Christ who is promised and foreshadowed in the Old Testament. Today we will explore Genesis 3:14-15. This passage, written thousands of years before the time of Christ, predicts a male deliverer who will defeat the serpent which Scripture identifies as Satan.

Speaker Name:
Pastor Bryan Sims | Phil 3:20, Jer. 29:7, 1 Tim 2:1-3

We have talked about how the church and government are separate but interact. This week we explore how they interact. We are to pray for the government and voice our Christian worldview. We also briefly explore the issue of whether Christians should ever disobey the government.

God and Government Part 2
Sunday, 26 October 2008
Speaker Name:
Pastor Bryan Sims | Romans 13:1-7 1 Peter 2:13-14
Description:
This week, we move from discussing God and government to discussing the church and the government. We explore three important truths. First, God has created the church and government to maintain spheres of authority where there is separation but interaction. Second, the God-ordained role of government is to carry out justice. Third, all people should submit to the government since God has instituted it.
God and Government
Sunday, 19 October 2008
Speaker Name:
Pastor Bryan Sims | Various Scriptures
Description:
In our society, there is a lot of controversy and confusion over the relationship between God and Government. However, scripture lays out clear principles to guide us. Today, we will explore the fact that God not only rules over all governments but that he also institutes them. So God establishes evil governments? We will see how scriptures answers this question.
